Before starting her legal career, Usha spent an intense four years involved in various extracurricular activities at Ivy League behemoth, Yale. Her academic prowess earned her a place as a Gates fellow at the prestigious Cambridge University.

It was during her education at Yale Law School when love blossomed between her and JD Vance, a fellow scholar, and they ended up tying the knot in 2014 with dual ceremonies, one of which was under the auspices of a Hindu priest in Kentucky.
