Alexei Zhuravlyov, a close ally of Vladimir Putin and deputy head of the parliamentary defense committee, has stated that Russia must be prepared for a potential Third World War and should not hesitate to confront the West. He emphasized that the country’s young male population should prepare to face a potentially catastrophic global conflict within the next three years. Zhuravlyov warned of a serious risk of confrontation with Western nations and insisted that Moscow must not back down from such a challenge.
According to a report by The Sun, the 62-year-old addressed young Russians, claiming that Europe is gearing up for a war with Russia in the years 2028-2029. He urged open discussions on the matter and stressed that if the war with Ukraine escalates further, Russia must ensure it has sufficient military strength and a robust arsenal of weapons to respond effectively.
Russia issues threats of war
Since the start of the Ukraine war three years ago, Vladimir Putin and his close associates have repeatedly issued warnings about engaging in a destructive war with the West and the potential use of nuclear weapons. Former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev has also stated that if provoked, Moscow is ready to use nuclear weapons and trigger a Third World War.
Putin himself has made threats of nuclear strikes, asserting that the U.S. and the U.K.’s decision to supply Ukraine with Storm Shadow and ATACMS missiles capable of striking Russian territory is viewed as direct NATO involvement in the war. It has been three years since Russia launched its large-scale invasion of Ukraine, and tensions between Russia and the West continue to escalate.
Experts warn that the Ukraine conflict could spiral into a larger armed confrontation. Such an escalation could lead to a devastating war in Europe, resembling the destruction of a world war. Several European countries have already issued statements acknowledging the threat of Russian aggression and emphasizing the need to prepare for potential conflict.
