Meet Akash Bobba, the brand behind Elon Musk’s DOGE shake, he has studied from…, has access to…

The world’s richest man, Elon Musk, headed the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), which made headlines when it hired six young engineers. The federal agency not only hired these young individuals, aged between 19 and 24, but also granted them unprecedented access to sensitive United States government systems. Among them is 22-year-old India-origin Akash Bobba, whose credentials are impressive. Critics argue that hiring inexperienced young individuals for major government positions is a significant gamble that could have serious consequences, including national security risks.

However, amid all the controversy, Bobba’s rise from an exceptional coder at UC Berkeley to a crucial government position is seen as a modern-day fairy tale.

An Impressive Track Record

Before DOGE, Bobba worked at several Silicon Valley companies and built an impressive resume. Talking about his education qualification, the 22-year-old attended UC Berkeley’s prestigious Management, Entrepreneurship, and Technology (MET) program. He started his career as an intern at Mark Zuckerberg’s Meta, Palantir, and the hedge fund Bridgewater Associates. By working at these prestigious companies, Bobba gained experience in AI, data analytics, and financial modeling.

Bobba’s biggest talent is his problem-solving ability and resilience under pressure.

Former classmate, Charis Zhang, recalled an incident when Bobba showcased his genius-level coding incident during Berkeley days.

He single-handedly rewrote an entire project overnight after one of his teammates accidentally deleted it and only two days were left for the submission of the project.

“During a project at Berkeley, I accidentally deleted our entire codebase. I panicked. Akash just stared at the screen, shrugged, and rewrote everything from scratch in one night—better than before. We submitted early and got first in the class,” Zhang wrote on social media.

Why DOGE hired youngster with No Government Experience?

It is noteworthy that Bobba is not the only youngster who was hired by DOGE. The team consists of five others, including recent graduates, college students, and former SpaceX interns, all of whom now have official government emails and high-level security clearances.

Despite their skills and intelligence, none of the individuals have prior experience in public service or government roles. Some security experts worry that their positions in federal agencies like the General Services Administration (GSA) and the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) could create significant risks.

As per reports, at least four of them, including Bobba, have been granted top-level security clearance, providing access to crucial government IT infrastructure. Critics argue that such access is typically reserved for senior government officials with thorough background checks, not young engineers just out of college.
