New Delhi: In the last few months, several countries including India have experienced multiple earthquakes and the most recent and devastating ones have been at Taiwan, officially the Republic of China. Days after a massive earthquake of 7.2 magnitude that killed at least 14 people, the East Asian country has been struck by another series of earthquakes. According to Reuters, in between Monday night and early Tuesday, a series of 80 earthquakes have hit Taiwan, centred on its East Coast, largely towards the rural eastern country of Hualien. Series Of 80 Earthquakes Rattle Taiwan, Strongest Is Of 6.3 Magnitude

As mentioned earlier, a series of 80 earthquakes have rattled Taiwan in the late hours of Monday and early morning of Tuesday; the strongest earthquake is of 6.3 Magnitude. The earthquake was centred in Hualien, the same place where the April 4 Taiwan Earthquake of 7.2 Magnitude was experienced and it killed at least 14 people. Hundreds of aftershocks have been experienced by Taiwan ever since.

Taiwan Earthquake 2024: Damage, Death Toll

According to the Fire Department in Hualien, the earthquake has caused damage, for instance, a hotel in the area which was damaged by the previous earthquake and was no longer in a working condition, has now slightly tilted and is leaning on one side. Several buildings in the earthquake-hit country are tilting on a side. However, there is no death toll so far and no reports of any kind of casualties.

Speaking about the earthquake that hit Taiwan on April 3, it was a massive earthquake of 7.4 magnitude, causing buildings to collapse and impacting the entire island nation. As per the Taiwan’s earthquake monitoring agency, the magnitude of the quake was 7.2, while the US Geological Survey estimated it to be 7.5. The earthquake is close to land and it’s shallow. It’s felt all over Taiwan and offshore islands… it’s the strongest in 25 years since the (1999) earthquake,” Wu Chien-fu had told the reporters. People were feared trapped in collapsed buildings in Hualien, as per Reuters. Reports also suggested that the eastern coast of Taiwan was seeing several rockslides and landslides.
