Colombo: In a tragic incident, seven people were killed and 20 others sustained injuries after a racing car mishap during the Fox Hill Super Cross 2024 racing event held in Sri Lanka’s Diyatalawa on Sunday. The deceased people included an eight-year-old kid. The incident occurred when the racing car, participating in the event, deviated from the track, Sri Lanka-based Daily Mirror reported.
How The Accident Happened?
The mishap took place when two high-speed race cars lost control and smashed with a group of spectators, Daily Mirror reported quoting Police Media Spokesperson DIG Nihal Thalduwa.
The injured were taken to Diyatalawa Base Hospital and are currently undergoing treatment. Furthermore, three people who suffered critical injuries were shifted to Badulla Hospital.
The deceased are from the Avissawella, Matara, Akuressa, and Seeduwa regions of Sri Lanka.

The organisers cancelled all the races after the dreadful accident, Daily Mirror reported.
