Helsinki: A shocking incident has emerged from Sweden where three people were injured after masked attackers stormed a meeting in Stockholm, Reuters reported citing police. The incident took place at an evening event organised by the Left Party to discuss growing fascism in the country. According to the anti-racist foundation Expo, a group of masked individuals suddenly barged into the venue.
According to the Expo, the masked attackers used self-defence spray and hurled smoke grenades in the hall.
A member of the Left Party Mattias Skagerholm told news agency TT that the attackers had also attacked people who were present at the meeting.
The images published by anti-racist foundation Expo showed panicked people standing outside the meeting venue. One of the attendee can be seen with a bloody wound on his forehead.
Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson said that such incidents had no place in Sweden.
“An attack on a democratic meeting is an attack on our entire democracy,” he said.
