Man Killed In Deadly Explosion In Israel’s Tel Aviv; Police Investigating Possible Terror Attack

Tel Aviv: A man lost his life in an explosion that occurred in Israel’s Tel Aviv on Sunday evening (local time), CNN reported. Another person sustained injuries after being hit by shrapnel and was rushed to a hospital for treatment. According to District Commander Peretz Amar, the deceased is suspected to have carried the explosive substance. Police have started an investigation and are still trying to establish the identity of the person who was killed in the explosion.

Peretz Amar mentioned that it is “too early to say” whether the incident in Tel Aviv was a terrorist attack. The police received several calls reporting the loud explosion on HaLehi Street in Tel Aviv, CNN reported.

Speaking to reporters at the scene, Peretz Amar confirmed that the explosion was caused by a bomb, The Times of Israel reported.

He noted that identifying the deceased is crucial to understanding the motive. He also stated that the injured person might be able to assist in the investigation, according to The Times of Israel.

Amar highlighted the difficulty in identifying the dead person, while pointing out that the person was no ordinary civilian as he was discovered with an explosive device. This brings up the debate – was it a crime or an act of terrorism? Amar insists on the importance of identifying who the dead person is to draw correct conclusions. The tell-tale signs at the incident scene indicate a possible thwarted attack.
