New Delhi: In a major terrorist attack in Pakistan, a convoy of the ambassadors of 11 countries, including Russia was hit by a massive explosion, said to be caused by a bomb blast.
One person died while four were injured. According to the reports, the blast occurred in the Jahanabad area of Swat district in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
The convoy included diplomats from Russia, Vietnam, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ethiopia, Rwanda, Zimbabwe, Indonesia, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, and Portugal.
Heavy police force and army were deployed for security behind the bus carrying the diplomats, but then a blast occurred in a bus which was the part of the convoy while according to a senior official, it was a roadside blast that was caused by an improvised explosive device (IED), targeting the convoy.
A police official said that the blast was carried out through remote and the convoy was going from Islamabad towards Malam Jabba, a beautiful hilly area of Swat district.
According to the information, all the diplomats are safe.
