Qatar’s Ambassador to Egypt, Tarek Al-Ansari, commented on the resolution on Monday, stating, “The resolution to support Iraq was unanimously adopted with the agreement of all Arab League members.” He further noted that the emergency meeting of the Arab League had been convened at Iraq’s request, with participation from the League’s permanent representatives.
Iraq concerned over Israel’s letter to the UN
Last week, Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar disclosed that he had sent a letter to the President of the United Nations Security Council. In the letter, the Israeli Foreign Minister called for “immediate action against Iran-backed militias using Iraqi territory to launch attacks on Israel.” He urged the Security Council to press the Iraqi government to fulfill its international obligations and prevent these attacks on Israel.
Iraq’s Prime Minister, Mohammed Shia al-Sudani, expressed concern, warning that the Israeli letter to the UN could serve as a pretext for an attack on Iraq.
