Big TENSION for India as Pakistan set to train Bangladesh’s Military, Yunus agrees…, Shehbaz Sharif to…

New Delhi: The Pakistan Army appears to be making a comeback in Bangladesh after 53 years, with reports indicating that senior military officials, including a general, may soon visit the country. To recall, in 1971, the Pakistani Army was driven out of East Pakistan. According to a News18 report, General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, Pakistan’s Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, has sent a proposal to Bangladesh where he expressed his desire to visit Bangladesh’s military training institutes, including the Infantry and Tactics School and the Defense Services Command. He has also expressed his desire to address young officers at the Bangladesh Army Staff College as a guest speaker.

Bangladesh has reportedly accepted the proposal, and initial discussions about the visit have already taken place, though the exact dates have not yet been announced.

Naval Exercises

Since Sheikh Hasina was forcefully ousted from power and Muhammad Yunus held the top position, Bangladesh has been drawing closer to Pakistan. In 2022, Sheikh Hasina had denied permission for the Pakistani warship PNS Taimur to dock at Chittagong. However, reports suggest that Bangladesh is preparing for a joint naval exercise with the Pakistani Navy in the Bay of Bengal.

Reports also suggest that Bangladesh is set to participate in the multinational naval exercise AMAN 2025. The exercise will be held in Karachi from February 7 to February 11. Commenting on the growing strategic ties between the two nations, Defense Expert Major General Ashok Kumar (Retd.) stated, “The current government’s affinity for Pakistan is increasing with each passing day. Pakistani diplomats and heads of military institutions are expressing their desire for closer relations with Bangladesh. This is likely to pose a challenge for India.”

The Generosity of Mohammad Yunus

Bankrupt Bangladesh appears to be following in the footsteps of another failed nation, Pakistan, even after 53 years of independence. To recall, the Pakistani Jamaat played a pivotal role in toppling Sheikh Hasina’s government, increasing hostility with India. Now, Pakistan is starting to tighten its grip on Bangladesh again.

The direct Islamabad-to-Dhaka flight, which had been suspended for the past five years, has now resumed. Bangladesh’s interim government, led by Mohammad Yunus, has also announced visa relaxations for Pakistan.

Defense expert Major General Ashok Kumar (Retd.) remarks, “Earlier, the ISI carried out its activities in Bangladesh covertly. Now, under the current government, it will openly engage in anti-India activities.” Bangladesh has already invited Pakistan to participate in a trade exhibition scheduled for January. Cargo ships from Pakistan are set to dock directly at Bangladesh’s Chittagong port, with Pakistani goods exempted from inspections. This leniency, credited to Mohammad Yunus, reflects his generosity.
