Washington, DC: Donald Trump immediately sprang into action following his swearing-in ceremony as the 47th President of the United States. Upon arriving at the White House, he went directly to the Oval Office and signed his first executive order, which included withdrawing the United States from the Paris Climate Treaty—reminiscent of his actions during his first term—implementing an immediate freeze on government hiring, and revoking 78 Biden-era actions.
Notably, the Trump administration’s withdrawal from the 2015 Paris Accord in 2017 was reversed by then-President Joe Biden on his first day in office in 2021.
What is Paris Climate Treaty?
The Paris Agreement is an international agreement made to fight climate change. Around 200 countries signed the agreement, committing to keep global warming below 2 degrees Celsius and ideally below 1.5 degrees.
It is to be noted that each country is free to develop its own plan to follow the commitment. However, the Paris Agreement is not a legally binding treaty.
78 Biden-Era Actions Revoked
“We’re going to sign executive orders. First, I’ll revoke nearly 80 destructive and radical executive actions of the previous administration, one of the worst administrations in history,” Trump said to a massive crowd of supporters.
Freedom of Speech
Trump issued a directive to the Federal Government aimed at reinstating Freedom of Speech and prohibiting government censorship of free expression in the future. He also announced a directive intended to halt the use of government resources against political opponents of the former administration. Additionally, he signed further Executive Actions in the Oval Office and addressed questions from the media.
Earlier, during his speech at the Capitol One Arena, President Donald Trump highlighted the success of his “Make America Great Again” (MAGA) movement, calling it the most successful political operation in the history of the country and the world.
“MAGA was the most successful political operation and movement in the history of our country and the world. We are not finished yet. We have a long way to go,” Trump said.
Trumps first eight executive actions are:
- Reversing 78 executive actions implemented during the Biden administration.
- Implementing a regulatory freeze to halt new regulations until the Trump administration takes full control.
- Freezing federal hiring, with exceptions for the military and essential sectors.
- Mandating federal employees to return to full-time, in-person work.
- Instructing all departments and agencies to prioritize addressing the cost-of-living crisis.
- Exiting the Paris Climate Agreement.
- Issuing an order to protect freedom of speech and prevent censorship.
- Stopping the misuse of government power against political opponents from the previous administration.

On Monday, Donald Trump officially took office as the 47th president of the United States during a ceremony at the US Capitol in Washington, DC, where he was administered the oath by Chief Justice John Roberts. Before Trump’s inauguration, JD Vance was sworn in as the 50th Vice President of the United States. Following the oath, Trump announced the commencement of a “golden age” for America, stating that the day signifies the country’s ‘Liberation Day.’
