Is Israel and Hamas preparing for a new WAR in Gaza? Israel delays in releasing…, chaos likely to erupt in…hostage talks stalled

Ramallah: In a concerning news, the hostage deal between Israel and Hamas is reportedly on the verge of collapse. The crisis arising from Israel’s delay in releasing Palestinian prisoners has increased doubts over the second phase of the ceasefire and hostage negotiations. This has escalated the chances of war between Israel and Hamas once again. The 35-day ceasefire has given Hamas a significant opportunity to reorganize its severely weakened forces, rebuild scattered units from the 14-month-long conflict, and prepare for new attacks on Israel, similar to the one carried out on October 7, 2023.

Hamas Fighters Are Back To Their Hideouts

Thousands of Hamas fighters returned to their respective hideouts during the ceasefire, blending in with civilians who were also making their way back. This came after Israel decided to withdraw from the Netzarim Corridor, which was part of the agreement.

Nearly 500,000 Palestinian civilians have returned to northern Gaza in the past few weeks. These people are trying to rebuild their homes, which have been reduced to rubble. Meanwhile, Hamas fighters are also regrouping their units and preparing for another battle against Israel.

Hamas Strengthens Its Grip in Gaza

Reports suggest that the Hamas terrorists have regrouped into new combat units, blending in with thousands of people who remained in northern Gaza during the fighting. However, Israeli security officials assess that these new structures are weaker than Hamas’s military capabilities before the war.

The reorganization of Hamas likely involves appointing new commanders, utilizing undiscovered tunnels, constructing additional underground shelters, removing pre-planted explosives targeting Israeli soldiers, and setting up new explosive traps.

Israeli Army Monitoring the Situation

Israel’s military surveillance units have also identified rocket launchers and camera installations in Gaza, revealing Hamas’s military preparations. To recall, at least three rockets were fired from Gaza last week amid the developments. Surveillance drones were also launched.

However, Israeli authorities successfully thwarted attempts by Israeli Arabs to smuggle equipment using drones.

Seizing Control of Food, Fuel, and Water

Hamas terrorists have set up checkpoints to seize hundreds of tons of food, fuel, and water entering Gaza daily under agreements with Israel. Additionally, they have reinstated a tax system to finance the salaries of their operatives.

IDF officials stated, “Every day of the ceasefire helps Hamas transfer fighters, issue orders, and rebuild its forces.”
