Dubai: Dubai has announced the construction of 55 new mosques simultaneously days before the commencement of Ramadan. The authorities in Dubai have said that along with the construction of these 55 new mosques, more than 70 percent of the mosques in the emirate will have Friday sermons translated into English. This means that sermons on Islam will also be delivered in English.
The Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department (IACAD) has made several announcements regarding the construction of new mosques, stating that these mosques will be grand and will incorporate modernity. Additionally, the mosques will showcase remarkable architecture, introducing the world to the heritage of Islamic architectural design.
It is important to note that 24 mosques were inaugurated at a cost of 174 million dirhams last year, providing accommodation for 13,911 Islamic worshippers. Now, 55 new mosques will be constructed, for which 475 million dirhams have been allocated. These new mosques will be able to accommodate 40,961 Islamic worshippers at a time. Additionally, 54 new plots of land have been identified for the future construction of more mosques.

Apart from this, work has also begun on the construction of 3D-printed mosques in Dubai, which are set to open in 2026. These mosques aim to encourage Muslims to connect with technology. However, no new updates have been provided regarding the floating mosque. The announcement for the floating mosque was made in 2023, with an estimated cost of 55 million dirhams.
