Cities plunge into darkness, mobile networks down: Emergency-like situation in this Muslim country before EID due to…

Once considered the king of the Middle East, Syria is now on the verge of destruction. The situation has worsened, and the country is facing severe electricity outages, forcing people to live in darkness. For the first time, Syria is experiencing such severe outages during Eid. Due to ongoing conflict and violence, residents are receiving electricity for only 1-2 hours a day.

Vibrant Syria Nights

Syria was dominated by the rule of Bashar al-Assad. Earlier, people used to come out on the streets at nights. Cafe shops used to be filled with foreign tourists. But due to the changed circumstances, Syria has turned into ruins.

According to the United Nations, Syria is in its worst phase due to 14 years of conflict. 90 percent of the people here are below the poverty line. There is still little hope of life returning to normal in the country.

Due to lack of electricity, electronic gadgets and appliances like mobile phones and fridges are not working. People are forced to use generators for essential services.

Waiting For The Violence To End

Post-December 2024, Syria continues to experience violence despite the reported overthrow of Assad.  Initial Western aid, including from the US, was withdrawn following escalating violence.  A recent Qatari gas agreement failed to improve Syria’s energy situation.  Furthermore, Assad’s actions have reportedly alienated Syria from Russian support.

The new interim government of Syria is dependent on America, but due to Donald Trump’s America First policy, there is a problem here too.
