Islamabad: Amid rising tensions between India and Pakistan after the Pahalgam terror attack, Turkey has extended its support to Islamabad and sent combat equipment. A Turkish Air Force C-130 Hercules military transport aircraft arrived in Karachi on Sunday, carrying combat equipment. As per sources, this move by Turkey is part of a wider defence cooperation between the two countries.
Apart from Karachi, as many as six Turkish C-130 aircraft have reportedly landed at a military base in Islamabad, reinforcing Turkey’s support to Pakistan as it is evident that Pakistan is unable to deal with the growing challenges on the international borders alone. Both Turkish and Pakistani sources have confirmed the transfer of military cargo. However, specific details of the shipment have not been disclosed.
Notably, Turkey stands by Pakistan at a time when regional instability is growing, especially after the terror attack in Pahalgam and the India-Pakistan conflict over Kashmir. Turkey’s military assistance to Pakistan complements similar aid from China, which has reportedly provided drones to boost its defensive capabilities.
This strategic cooperation highlights the growing defence ties between Turkey, Pakistan, and China. Observers who are monitoring the developments believe that the alliances are reshaping the geopolitical dynamics in South Asia, especially as military activities in the region intensify.
For Pakistan, which is currently mobilising resources on its borders, these military deliveries are seen as a major reinforcement amid growing threats.
Meanwhile, the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) has activated key air bases, including – Pensi, Skardu and Swat in response to rising regional tensions with India. Currently, F-16, J-10 and JF-17 fighter jets have been deployed at these bases, with combat air patrols (CAP) already underway.
This activation is part of the PAF’s strategy to strengthen defence capabilities and ensure quick response readiness. It is worth noting that, the Skardu airbase has been upgraded to act as a key hub and support Pak’s fighter jets for air defence operations, surveillance activities and combat preparedness.
