BIG trouble in Pakistan amid looming war with India, Islamabad may lose Balochistan as Baloch rebels capture major city, seize…

India-Pakistan war: Amidst the looming threat of a major India-Pakistan war, Pakistan is reportedly facing serious internal crisis as Baloch insurgents have used the opportunity to launch a wave of attacks on the Pakistan Army in Balochistan. According to reports, Baloch rebels have seized control of key government buildings and military establishments in Mangocher city in Kalat district in Pakistan’s Balochistan province.

Baloch fighters also stormed a Pakistan Army camp, and seized arms and ammunition after a heavy exchange of fire between the two groups, reports said. The development comes amid heightened tensions with India after the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, which has forced Pakistan to raise troop deployment on its western borders, fearing an imminent military attack by India.

Baloch rebels led by Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) have increased attacks on Pakistani armed forces. On April 26, the BLA claimed an IED bombing that left 10 paramilitary personnel dead in Balochistan.

In March this, the BLA had hijacked the Jaffar Express with 380 passengers on board, following which the Pakistan Army launched Operation Green Bolan, in which 64 people, mostly Baloch rebels, were killed by the armed forces, according to the government.

However, the BLA has refuted this claim, and asserted that 214 hostages and 50 Pakistan Army soldiers were killed in the operation.

India-Pakistan war

India and Pakistan, bitter enemies since the former’s independence and the latter’s creation in 1947, are standing on the brink of a major war after terrorists, allegedly linked to Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba terror group, gunned down 26 civilians, mostly Indian Hindu tourists, in Kashmir’s scenic Pahalgam hill resort on April 22 last month.

Earlier this week, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio reportedly held separate calls with top Indian and Pakistani leader urging the two nuclear-armed neighbors to exercise restraint and resolve the matter through dialogue after Pakistani authorities held an emergency presser, saying the possibility of an Indian military strike was high within the 36 hours.
