Operation Sindoor against Pakistan was going on for around 4 days by India. The country took action against terrorism of Pak at some locations. During this tension Pakistan also used drones to attack India, which India successfully intercepted. However, according to some media reports these drones were given to the Pak by Turkey.
After this news there was a backlash which grew against Turkey in India. From traders to common citizens demanded to boycott traveling to Turkey and also imports from the country. If India decides to break all ties with Turkey as demanded by many, it may impact businesses between the two nations. It will also lead to an increase in prices for some goods.
1. Marble Prices
India imports around 70% of its marble from Turkey. If relations between the two countries are affected, marble prices in India may rise and impact sectors like construction and interior design.
2. Apples
Many Indian traders are already refusing to import apples from Turkey. India imports around 1.29 lakh tons of apples yearly from Turkey. Any decision regarding this is taken by the government may impact apple prices in the Indian market.
3. Carpets
Turkey is an exporter of woolen and silk carpets, which are famous in India. If imports will be banned from Turkey, availability of these carpets will reduce in the market and it will become expensive.
4. Decorative Items
Turkish decorative items are famous for their aesthetic appeal and premium quality can become more expensive.
5. Turkish Furniture
Turkish furniture due to its luxurious designs are in high demand in the hospitality industry. A trade dispute within two countries can disrupt its supply chain and increase prices.
6. Other Affected Goods
Cherries and Dried Fruits, Spices and Herbal Teas, Traditional Tiles, Jewelry and Fashion Apparel, Olive Oil and Chocolates, Trade Overview and Loss Potential can also be impacted if ties are broken.
Trade volumes between India and Turkey were stable in the last five years. From April 2024 to February 2025, India exported goods of Rs 44,500 crore to Turkey and in 2023-24 it was of Rs 56,873 crore.
