Tehran: The conflict between Iran and Israel escalated further when the United States joined the war. Israel launched deadly airstrikes on Tehran on June 13, and the US conducted airstrikes on Iran’s nuclear bases on June 22. America launched Operation Midnight Hammer and attacked the Middle East country’s nuclear bases with its bunker-buster bombs. Iran retaliated and launched missile attacks on Tel Aviv and targeted the American base in Qatar.
After 12 days of conflict in West Asia, signs of peace were seen on Tuesday when the countries agreed to a ceasefire. According to experts, Iran not going to stop its nuclear program. In such a crucial situation, the question arises as to why the US, which has changed governments in many countries, is not able to stop Iran?
Will Iran’s Nuclear Program Stop!
It is not clear how much damage Israel and US have done to the nuclear bases in Fordo, Natanz and Isfahan, Eurasian Times reported. However, experts say that Tehran had smartly moved its stockpile of uranium, which is enriched up to 60 percent, to a safer and underground location before the attacks. Now, the Middle East country can enrich the Uranium stockpile to 90 percent, which is needed to make nuclear bomb, after the conflict stops.
If the combined attack of the US and Israel has not stopped Tehran’s nuclear program, does Washington have any Plan B?
The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has already stated that Tehran has stored 400 kg of uranium (enriched up to 60 percent). This amount of uranium is sufficient to make not one but ten lethal nuclear bombs.
Iranians Have Expertise
According to Darya Doljikova, a senior research fellow at the Royal United Services Institute for Defence and Security Studies in London, Iran has expertise and it can repair the damage caused by the bombardments, resuming its nuclear program. Notably, the program is not new and its been two decades that Iran is trying to make its own nuclear bomb. Its expertise is largely based indigenously. However, bombarding nuclear bases and killing scientists can slow the program but cannot stop it completely.
Iran Different From Iraq And Syria
Israel conducted air and missile strikes on Iraq (2007) and Syria (1981), claiming to destroy nuclear programs. Both countries stopped their nuclear program following the attacks.
Unlike these countries, Tehran’s nuclear program is much more extensive and widespread.
According to Nicholas Miller, a nonproliferation expert, repeated outside interventions needed time to time in Iran to stop its nuclear program, specially if the current regime remains in power. Few days of attack won’t affect it.
