On Monday, the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) of Bangladesh sentenced Sheikh Hasina to death. She was found guilty of crimes against humanity for her role in suppressing last year’s student uprising.
According to Bangladeshi media, police used batons, sound grenades, and tear gas to disperse the crowds. Two people have died in the violence. To recall, before the sentencing, the banned Awami League had called for a two-day nationwide protest.
Before the verdict, the Yunus government had deployed heavy police forces in Dhaka, with orders to shoot at protesters.
