Trump’s new plan for undocumented immigrants: Self deport by Dec 31 and get USD 3000, free flight, will also forgive people of any…

The US government has announced a new plan for undocumented immigrants who choose to leave the country on their own. The US Department of Homeland Security said that people living in the United States without legal permission can get USD 3,000 if they agree to return to their home country voluntarily before the end of this year. To receive the money, they must register and confirm their departure using the CBP Home app, which was earlier called CBP One. The government says this offer is only available until December 31.

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem warned that those who ignore the offer will face strict action. She said anyone staying in the US illegally will be located, detained, and deported. She also said such people will be permanently banned from entering the US again.

Earlier, the Trump administration had offered USD 1,000 to immigrants who agreed to leave on their own. The new plan increases that amount to USD 3,000, making it the highest payment offered so far for voluntary departure during the government’s tough immigration drive.

The DHS also said that people who use the CBP Home app to leave the country will not have to pay civil fines or penalties for overstaying their visas or failing to leave earlier.

The message from the government is clear: leave voluntarily now and receive financial help, or face arrest, forced removal, and a permanent ban later.

US calls self-deportation the “best gift” undocumented immigrants

The US Department of Homeland Security has called self-deportation the “best gift” undocumented immigrants can give themselves and their families during the holiday season.

In a press release, DHS said that undocumented migrants who sign up to leave the US on their own using the CBP Home app before the end of the year will get USD 3,000 and a free flight back to their home country. The department also said that people who leave through the app will be forgiven for any civil fines or penalties related to overstaying or not leaving the country earlier.

Millions have already left the US on their own

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem said that a large number of undocumented migrants have already chosen to leave the United States voluntarily. According to her, since January 2025, about 1.9 million people living in the US illegally have left the country on their own. She said that tens of thousands of them used the CBP Home program to do so.

Noem explained that the government is offering a higher payment only for a limited time during the Christmas season. She urged people to decide quickly, as the offer will end soon.

In a press release, she said that US taxpayers are temporarily tripling the payment for voluntary departure. Undocumented migrants who leave before the end of the year can receive a USD 3,000 exit bonus, but the offer is only valid for a short period.

Immigration has remained a key issue for President Donald Trump since he returned to office. During his campaign, he promised large-scale deportations. Since then, his administration has made immigration rules stricter, and even legal routes to enter the United States have become more difficult.
