US-Israel War On Iran: Amid the ongoing airstrikes and reports of Iran’s supreme leader’s death, US President Donald Trump on Sunday early in the morning announced that Ayatollah Ali Khamenei is dead, terming it the greatest chance for the people of the Middle East country to reclaim control of their nation. He also warned that the military strikes by the US will continue, saying that ‘heavy and pinpoint bombing’ would continue ‘as long as necessary’ to achieve ‘peace throughout the Middle East and, indeed, the world.’
What Did Donald Trump Say?
The US President took to Truth Social and announced that Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei was killed in US strikes.
“Khamenei, one of the most evil people in History, is dead. This is not only Justice for the people of Iran, but for all Great Americans, and those people from many Countries throughout the World, that have been killed or mutilated by Khamenei and his gang of bloodthirsty THUGS,” he wrote.
Trump said Khamenei was unable to avoid our Highly Sophisticated Tracking Systems
“He was unable to avoid our Intelligence and Highly Sophisticated Tracking Systems and, working closely with Israel, there was not a thing he, or the other leaders that have been killed along with him, could do,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.
He termed the death of Iran’s supreme leader as a historic moment, saying it represents “the single greatest chance for the Iranian people to take back their Country.” He claimed elements of Iran’s Revolutionary Guard and security forces are seeking immunity. “Now they can have Immunity, later they only get Death.”
Military Strikes To Continue On Iran
President Trump also confirmed that the death of Iran’s supreme leader will not stop the US military strikes, signaling continued military pressure. “heavy and pinpoint bombing” would continue “as long as necessary” to achieve what he described as “PEACE THROUGHOUT THE MIDDLE EAST AND, INDEED, THE WORLD,” he wrote.
Iran Has Not Confirmed Khamenei’s Death
According to a report by Reuters, citing a senior Israeli official, the body of Khamenei had been recovered after the US airstrikes. Trump stated that Washington worked closely with Israel to neutralise Iran’s supreme leader, who had ruled the Middle Eastern country since 1989.
However, Iranian news agencies Tasnim and Mehr rejected the claim, reporting that the leader remained “steadfast and firm.’
A tweet was posted from the leader’s X account, suggesting that he is still alive.
“In the exalted name of Haider (Ali), peace be upon him,” the post read.
Earlier, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu informed that Khamenei’s compound had been attacked and destroyed in the operation.
Khamenei’s death would jolt the Islamic Republic that he had ruled for over 36 years since 1989.
