Why Is Japan Prone To Earthquakes And Tsunamis?

Japan is located on the Pacific Ring of Fire. It is the region which witnesses the collision of tectonic plates, making the country highly prone to earthquakes and tsunamis.

The country is one of the most seismically active places in the world and experiences more than 1,000 seismic activities annually. Due to its location, Japan experiences about 20 percent of the world’s earthquakes of magnitude six or higher.
